Dont' you think that Senators usually mention God when they do something that is policy related. As an example, during the Health Care debate, some senators have called Universsal health care a necessity and have even used religion to back their postions on health care
Religion is such a major part of society and government officials try to gain more votes through using religion as a basis for everything. We are supposed to seperate church and state but we constantly intertwine the two.
