kid burnt in Florida

My prayers to the family of Michael Brewer, they are going under a shock of having their son burned. My prayers with the families of the kids who burnt him, they are not suffering from the aggression of one of their own, but are suffering from the actions their children committed. In days like these I try to blame someone and to point the finger to all the people I know, I blame the parents for not teaching Brewer to pay back 10 dollars, I blame the parents of the 4 kids who burnt him, I blame the school system that does not teach our kids to behave better and my heart is full of hatred and rage. I am so blinded by the rage within me that sometimes I cannot even logically think. And then I try to find compassion. Comapssion for the people I dont understand, sometimes it doesn't work so well. I remember as a young newly arrived immigrant to this country I listened Dr, King's speech in 2005. He asked from us to give compassion, to represent compassion and to at least pretend compassion, it would heal us more than blame. An I think we are all tired of blaming each other. We are tired to know that our children are not safe, that the streets are not safe places and that our efforts to make them safe are not working. Blame is not the solution, blame will tear down our anilities to change this nation. Blame will breed more violence and we have had enough of that. Blame will not eradicate crime from our streets nor change the minds of our kids. Blame will not chage our school system and give us hope. Blame will rob us from those things and we have had enough of that. That's why I am asking you to dig down with me inside your hearts and we will work together and slowly, too slowly we will walk together and work together. And things will get better. The time is now.
